Dylon Intense Black Fabric Dye is a popular choice for refreshing faded clothes or transforming fabrics into a deep black shade. Follow this step-by-step guide to achieve the best results.

What You Need:

  • Dylon Intense Black Fabric Dye (Machine or Hand Dye)

  • Salt (for machine dye) or fixative

  • Washing machine (for machine dye method)

  • Large bowl or bucket (for hand dye method)

  • Gloves to protect hands

  • Stirring stick (for hand dyeing)

Method 1: Using Dylon Intense Black in the Washing Machine

  1. Weigh Your Fabric – Ensure it does not exceed the recommended weight for even dyeing.

  2. Wash the Fabric – Clean the fabric to remove any dirt or finishes. Leave damp.

  3. Prepare the Dye – Remove the Dylon dye pod’s outer packaging.

  4. Place in the Machine – Put the dye pod directly into the drum with your damp fabric.

  5. Add Salt – Pour the required amount of salt into the detergent drawer.

  6. Run a Cycle – Select a 30-40°C cotton cycle without pre-wash.

  7. Wash Again – Once the cycle ends, run another wash with detergent.

  8. Dry Naturally – Hang to dry away from direct sunlight or heat sources.

Method 2: Hand Dyeing with Dylon Intense Black

  1. Dissolve the Dye – Fill a large container with warm water and dissolve the dye.

  2. Stir Well – Mix thoroughly to ensure even dye distribution.

  3. Add Fabric – Fully submerge the fabric and stir continuously for 15 minutes.

  4. Soak & Stir – Leave the fabric in the dye for at least 1 hour, stirring occasionally.

  5. Rinse & Wash – Rinse under cold water until the water runs clear, then wash with detergent.

  6. Dry Naturally – Air dry in a shaded area.

Tips for Best Results:

  • Suitable for 100% cotton, linen, and viscose. Not recommended for polyester, nylon, or wool.

  • Use more dye for deeper black shades.

  • Always wear gloves to prevent staining your hands.

  • Avoid using fabric softener after dyeing to maintain colour intensity.
